Buying templates

Anyone can buy templates, including Free workspaces. A Pro plan is only required to sell - not to buy.

Price ≠ infra spend

The purchase price is a one-time charge to buy the template. It is separate from the map's estimated monthly infra spend (the muted "~$x/mo" figure), which only estimates what running that architecture would cost on your cloud bill. See Spend tracking for how Canopy handles costs.

Editable copy

  1. Checkout - Stripe hosts the one-time payment. Canopy takes the marketplace fee and routes the rest to the seller through Stripe Connect.
  2. License created - after payment clears, a durable entitlement is recorded in your account and a snapshot of the map at this exact moment is saved permanently.
  3. Library - you land in Maps → Purchased templates where your entitlement lives, accessible from any workspace.

Your two clone actions

A paid entitlement gives you two distinct ways to clone:

Clone original

Clones the frozen snapshot captured at the moment you purchased. Never changes - always available.

source: snapshot at purchase

available: always

Clone latest

Clones the seller's current live map, including every improvement made since your purchase.

source: seller's live map

available: while source is live

Both produce a normal, editable private map in your workspace. You can run either action repeatedly at no extra charge.

What happens if the seller disappears

Your entitlement and snapshot are stored independently of the seller's workspace.

Quotas

Purchased entitlements live in your Library and are exempt from the Free 2-map cap. Editable clones made from them are normal maps and do count toward the cap - see Accounts & workspaces for free workspace limits.

Pro subscription invoices are billed by Stripe - view them in the Stripe customer portal.

Every template purchase is recorded in Canopy under Settings → Plans & billing → Template purchases, with the date, amount, seller and status. The list is account-wide - your purchases follow you across every workspace.

Where each kind of transaction lives

Template purchases (one-time marketplace buys) are shown in Canopy on the billing page. Subscription invoices (your Pro per-seat plan) are billed and receipted by Stripe - open the Stripe customer portal from the Manage button on the billing page to view, download or print those invoices.

Refunds

All sales are final

Template purchases are non-refundable. Once your purchase completes and the entitlement is granted, the sale is final - you're not entitled to a refund, including the platform fee. See the Terms.

A refund may be issued only at the seller's discretion (for example, to resolve a dispute) - it isn't something you can request as of right. If a seller does refund you (or you win a chargeback), the purchase shows as Refunded in your transaction history and your entitlement is revoked: you lose read access to the seller's map, can no longer clone it, and any editable copies you cloned from it are deleted. If you believe a template was materially misrepresented or harmful, talk to support with your order details.
