You rarely reason about cost one service at a time - you think in domains: frontend, backend, AI, platform. Canopy adds up the monthly spend you attach to each node so you can see the shape of the bill, not just the shape of the system.

Two ways to read a map

• Flow view - the request paths between services. This is the canvas you build and edit.
• Group view - the same services clustered into cost domains: a way to picture where the money goes.

Where your spend is rolled up

Give each node a monthly cost and Canopy aggregates it for you on the dashboard and the Spend page:

• By map - total monthly spend for every map in the workspace.
• By billing model - usage, per-seat, per-team and flat, so you can tell how much of your bill scales with usage versus what's fixed.
