No. Cancelling and removing your card are two separate steps. Cancelling stops renewals and unlocks the Remove action, but you still click Remove to detach the card.
No. Cancelling your plan and removing your card are two separate actions, on purpose.
Cancelling (Manage, then Cancel, in the Stripe portal) stops the plan from renewing and keeps your Pro access until the end of the period. Your card stays on file. What it does change is that, with no upcoming charge, the Remove action on Plans and billing becomes available.
To actually take the card off, click Remove on Plans and billing after cancelling. It is a deliberate second step so that cancelling does not strip your card while you might still change your mind: if you resume before the period ends, the plan needs a card on file to keep renewing.
So the full flow to remove your card is: cancel in the portal, then Remove on the billing page.
