Why can't I clone this template again?
Marketplace · Updated Aug 4, 2026
A template can be cloned into a workspace once. Delete the copy to clone it again, and note you can't clone or like your own templates.
A template can be cloned into a given workspace **once**. If a copy is already there, that workspace is disabled in the destination picker and labelled **(already cloned)**, and the button reads **Already cloned**.
**To clone it again, delete the existing copy.** The restriction comes from the copy itself, so once you delete it the workspace becomes available again - there is nothing else to reset.
Other reasons a workspace may be unavailable in the picker:
- **(published here)** - that workspace published the template, so it already has
- the original. Cloning it into itself would just duplicate your own map.
- **(view-only)** - you're a **Viewer** in that workspace and can't add maps. Ask
- an Admin or the Owner for Editor access.
You can't clone or like your own template
On your own templates the **Clone** and **Like** buttons are disabled, with a tooltip explaining why. Likes and clones feed your Canopy Card badges and the gallery's ranking, so counting your own would distort them.
"You're doing that too fast"
Liking and cloning are rate limited per account. Normal use never reaches the limit - it exists to stop automated clicking. Wait a moment and try again.
